Beetlejuice 2 – Jenna Ortega – Michael Keaton │ News Update │ Cineflicks News
It’s time to talk about Beetlejuice – the iconic horror comedy that made Tim Burton a household name. Michael Keaton’s portrayal of Betelgeuse was perfect and talks of a sequel started right after its release. But after years of development hell, it seemed like the sequel was never going to happen. Now, almost 30 years later, we have some exciting news – Beetlejuice 2 is finally in development. Tim Burton is back in the director’s chair and Michael Keaton will reprise his role as Betelgeuse. And to top it off, Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has joined the cast. We even have some early filming details. So, if you’re a fan of the original film and dying to know more about the sequel, keep watching because we’re going to give you everything we know so far about Beetlejuice 2.
Unfortunately, we don’t have much information on the plot yet. But we can give you a quick recap of the first film. The movie starts with a couple, Adam and Barbara, who die in a car accident. After death, they become ghosts in their own home. They’re fine with their new existence until a new family moves in, and they want to scare them away. That’s when they meet Betelgeuse, a “bio-exorcist” who offers to help, but he’s not trustworthy. Instead, Adam and Barbara try to scare the family themselves. Things get complicated when the family tries to bring back the dead couple. But it will cost them their existence. Lydia, the goth daughter, summons Betelgeuse and agrees to marry him, but they eventually stop him and create a happy coexistence in the house. So, that’s where we left off with Betelgeuse, waiting in line in the afterlife. But that’s not all. We also have some exciting news about the potential cast for Beetlejuice 2. Jenna Ortega is in talks to join the cast. She became an overnight sensation after her performance in Tim Burton’s Netflix series Wednesday. Having starred in the recent revival of the Scream franchise, she’s no stranger to the horror genre. While Ortega’s role in the movie hasn’t been confirmed yet, sources suggest that she might play the part of Lydia’s daughter. Michael Keaton is expected to reprise his role in this sequel as well. Keaton and Burton have worked together multiple times in the past, with Keaton playing the lead in Burton’s version of Batman. The project is still early in development, so there’s no official release date from Warner Brothers yet. If filming starts this Summer, we can estimate the release date. Production may start in Summer 2023, with post-production in Fall 2023. A likely release date is Fall 2024. The Beetlejuice franchise is known for its creepy visuals, so a release close to Halloween is possible. At this time, we don’t know if the movie will be released in theaters or on a streaming platform. The original film was a massive box office success, making it unlikely that Warner Brothers would skip a theatrical release. However, it’s been over three decades since the original movie, and streaming has become increasingly popular. So, it’s not entirely unlikely that this film could be a streaming exclusive. If that’s the case, HBO Max would be the likely streaming platform for the sequel, given its direct ties to the production company. So, what do you guys think?
