Cocaine Bear (2023) News Update │ Cineflicks News
Cocaine Bear’ is almost ready to hit the big screens, and it’s going to be an epic ride. This movie promises to bring plenty of carnage and, of course, lots of cocaine along with it. It’s definitely not your typical movie. Because like Paul Dano playing the straight man to Daniel Radcliffe’s reanimated corpse in ‘Swiss Army Man’, or Nicolas Cage searching for his kidnapped pig in ‘Pig’, Cocaine Bear is also a unique and unconventional film. There are plenty of talented writers in the world, and sometimes the most unbelievable stories turn out to be true. This film has one such story, and it’s based on an incident from 1985. A convicted drug smuggler and former narcotics officer, named Andrew C. Thornton was flying a plane carrying 40 plastic containers of cocaine. He dropped a duffel bag full of drugs in an attempt to lighten his load. He then died after failing to open his parachute while chasing after the falling drugs. The duffel bag of cocaine, worth almost fifteen million dollars, was found by a 175-pound black bear who decided to consume it. The movie will likely follow the bear’s drug-fueled killing spree. While the rest of the story is well-documented due to its non-fiction nature, it’s best not to spoil anything for the movie. Universal Pictures also released an official synopsis which reads, “Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner’s plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild dark comedy finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists, and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500- pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow … and blood”. Originally, this film was going to be directed by a group of three guys called Radio Silence, who are known for making hilarious and scary movies like “Ready or Not” and “Scream 6”. But now, they’re out and a new director is in – Elizabeth Banks! You might recognize her from movies like “The Hunger Games” or “Pitch Perfect”, or from directing “Pitch Perfect 2” and “Charlie’s Angels”. She’s known for bringing the laughs, but now she’s branching out into horror with this movie. She says there’s more to the movie than just scares – it also deals with themes like parenting and the war on drugs. If we talk about the cast, first up, we have Keri Russell, famous for her roles in “The Americans” and “Felicity.” And if you’re a fan of “The Americans,” you’ll be thrilled to hear that Margo Martindale, who played Keri’s handler in the show, will also be in the film, along with Matthew Rhys. We also have the late, great Ray Liotta, who will be making his final film appearance in “Cocaine Bear.”But that’s not all! The movie also stars Alden Ehrenreich, known for “Hail, Caesar!” and “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” O’Shea Jackson Jr. from “Straight Outta Compton,” Kristofer Hivju from “Game of Thrones,” and Jesse Tyler Ferguson from “Modern Family.” “Cocaine Bear’ will be hitting theaters all around the world on the same day! So, mark your calendars for February 24, 2023, because that’s when you can finally witness this wild ride. For more details, keep watching Cineflicks News.
