‘A Haunting in Venice” is an upcoming supernatural thriller movie. It is the latest adaptation of Agatha Christi’s detective fiction. She is perhaps the unrivaled queen of “who dun it” and her work has inspired many successful movies like Knives Out franchise, among others. That’s why, when we talk about her stories, we know we can expect a story with a lot of twists and surprises. But what about A Haunting in Venice”? And what can we expect from it? Is it going to be on par with its predecessors or not? To find out, stay tuned till the end of this video.
Christi’s work has been adapted many times in the past. From “Witness for the Prosecution” to “Mirror Crack’d 1980” many great films are adaptations of her work. Recently, it was Kenneth Branagh who started a new franchise based on the famous character, Hercule Poirot. Murder on the Orient Express was released in 2017 which essentially revive the character of Hercule. It not only received positive reviews from the critics, but also earned 353 million dollars against a budget of just 55 million dollars. With such success along with a positive response from thriller lovers, it was obvious that there will be a new franchise in the future. Now, that’s exactly what is happening. The 2nd film in the series was Death on the Nile 2022. Although, it wasn’t as great as its predecessor, it still managed to keep the flame alive. That’s why, today, we are talking about the 3rd chapter in this series. Based on a novel called Halloween’s Party by Agatha, this 3rd part combines the themes of supernatural and thriller in an unusual way. Of course, “who dun it” will be the core of this movie like the other ones. In this upcoming installment, our retired detective finds himself living a secluded life in the mesmerizing city of Venice. Against his better judgment, he reluctantly attends a séance and soon finds himself entangled in a murder mystery that unfolds at a haunted palazzo. With his detective skills rusted from retirement, he must once again delve into a world of secrets and a past that refuses to remain buried. Unlike the previous two films in this series, this sequel takes a slightly different turn. As we enter the supernatural realm, the plot, and setting become delightfully wacky. We can expect a haunting and eerie atmosphere that will keep us on the edge of our seats. Shadows will lurk, and secrets will come alive in this spine-chilling adventure. In simple words, this film is going to be a thrilling journey through crime-solving and action, with a supernatural twist. We also have an official synopsis released by the studio. It reads, “Set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, “A Haunting in Venice” is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.” As for its cast, the one and only Kenneth Branagh will be reprising his role as the brilliant detective. Joining him in this star-studded cast are some incredible talents that are sure to make this film a must-watch. First up, we have Tina Fey, Jaime Dornan, Jude Hill, Kelly Reilly, and the incredible Michelle Yeoh. Adding to such an already impressive lineup, we have Emma Laird, Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Ali Khan, and Riccardo Scamarcio in the supporting roles.
Kenneth is not only reprising his role as the detective but he is also taking the director’s chair once again. Known for his unique direction style, his films are full of brilliant cinematography, vibrant colors, and intense action sequences. Michael Green is also back and has written the script for this film. Judy Hoffman, Mark Gordon, Simon Kinberg, Ridley Scott, and James Prichard, have all returned as the producers. Behind the scenes, 20th-century Fox is handling the production. It is scheduled to be released worldwide in theaters on September 15, 2023. After that, it will be available to stream on Hulu.
