The Exchange is an upcoming Kuwait drama series destined to be released very soon. This show is coming straight from Kuwait and created a buzz ahead of its release. There are a few Kuwaiti series and films on Netflix. But The Exchange is deemed to change this notion. But how and why this show is being held to this standard? To know that, watch this video till the end.
The Exchange is set to be aired on Netflix this month. But apart from it, there have been some Kuwaiti films and shows premiered on this streamer in past. For example, Ashman 2021, AlRawabi School for Girls 2022 and The Cage 2022 are a few names of Kuwaiti films and movies on Netflix. But to be honest here, unlike South Korea and Spain, these Kuwaiti shows and films have failed to engage an international audience. That’s why, you don’t hear from your friends anything about these shows. To change that, Netflix has stepped up and brought this series, The Exchange. Based on real events, this show is set a few decades back in the 1980s. The series will follow two Kuwaiti women Farida and Munira as they navigate their way in a male-dominated world. From the trailer, much of the premised can be deducted and that’s exactly what we have done for you. The trailer starts with an introduction to Farida, a recent divorcee, and mother who is on a mission to become self-sufficient. She turns to her cousin, Munira, for help. Munira is a strong and determined woman who works at the Kuwait Stock Exchange. Together, the women join forces to succeed in the male-oriented financial market. The show will depict their success as well as their personal difficulties in this endeavor. The character of Farida is portrayed by Rawan Mahdi while Mona Hussain has played the role of Munira. This six-episode series also stars Kuwaiti actors like Hussain Almahdi, Mohammed Al Mansour, and Faisal Alamiri. It is written by Nadia Ahmad, Anne Sobel, and Adam Sobel, and directed by Jasem AlMuhanna and Karim El Shenawy. After The Cage 2022, The Exchange will be Netflix’s second original Kuwaiti series. It is produced by Abdullah Boushahri who is very determined about this project. In an interview, he said, “Having grown up in Kuwait and being surrounded by independent women my whole life, this production is one that is close to my heart.” It is interesting to know that Netflix is also very determined to increase its library of Arabic films, creating collections to promote award-winning features and shorts. The Exchange is set to be released on February 8, 2023, on Netflix. For more information, subscribe to CineFlicks News and hit the bell icon.
