Luther: The Fallen Sun – Idris Elba │ News Update │ Cineflicks News
Luther the Fallen Sun is arriving this month on streaming giant, Netflix. If you were left disappointed after the fifth and final season of BBC’s Luther in 2019, then get ready to jump out of your seats because John Luther is back! That’s right, Idris Elba will be reprising his role as the brilliant DCI John Luther for one last time in the upcoming movie Luther: The Fallen Sun. But what is he gonna do this time? And what is the future of this detective? Let’s find out with us in this video. After the show’s natural conclusion, fans have been eagerly waiting for a follow-up to the series, which starred Idris Elba as the titular character, DCI John Luther. Luther was known for his unorthodox methods and his willingness to bend the law in his quest for justice. Finally, an official sequel movie has been announced, titled Luther: The Fallen Sun. The series premiered on BBC One in May 2010 and ran for five seasons until January 2019. Alongside Elba, the show starred Ruth Wilson as Alice Morgan, a genius-level psychopath. The series was a massive hit among fans and was critically acclaimed, leading to several nominations and awards, including a Golden Globe for Elba as the Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film. But, the end of the series left fans wanting more. In 2021, Netflix announced that it would be releasing a film sequel as a continuation of the series, with Elba reprising his role as the titular protagonist. The final season of the BBC series ended with DCI John behind bars. Ironically, his effective but offbeat methods of investigation and seeking justice are what ended up getting him arrested. The upcoming Netflix film picks up right where the series ended. We’ll see Luther struggling to cope with his newfound confinement while continuing to fight for justice. The film promises to deliver the same thrilling experience as the series, with all the elements that made it so popular – the dark, brooding atmosphere, the complex and flawed characters, and the intense psychological drama. Thankfully, Netflix has released an official synopsis which gives us some idea about its potential plot. The synopsis reads, “In Luther: The Fallen Sun — an epic continuation of the award-winning television saga reimagined for the film — a gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary. The movie is written by Neil Cross, who is also the creator of the original BBC series while it is directed by Jamie Payne, who has previously directed select episodes of this series. Apart from Idris, the cast includes Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis, along Jess Liaudin, Lauryn Ajufo, Dermot Crowley, Natasha Patel, Henry Hereford, and Ruth Wilson. Luther: The Fallen Sun” will be available for streaming on Netflix on March 10th, 2023. For more updates, subscribe to the Cineflicks News.
