Maleficent 3 is finally on track and a script is being developed for it. After a long wait, it has been confirmed that the 3rd instalment in the Maleficent franchise is green-lit by Disney studio. But thanks to the first movie of this series released in 2014, this character is now a sympathetic anti-hero instead of a cold-hearted witch. In 2019, the 2nd part of this series hit theatres and like its predecessor, it was a huge success. Oscar winner actress Angelina Jolie played the titular role in both these films. Her acting and persona were much applauded by the general audience and gained favourable reviews from the critics. News about the third “Maleficent” movie was already making rounds in 2019 when the second film was released. The producer Joe Ruth said in an interview that the first draft of the script is ready but not finalized yet. He also mentioned that Disney has some big plans for this film series. As for now, the writer Linda Woolverton is leading the writer’s block and a script is in development. From our sources, it is confirmed that Angelina Jolie as Maleficent and Elle Fanning as Aurora are set to reprise their roles. The time between the first and second films was nearly five years. Considering the third film has been in the works since 2019 with no updates as yet, we can expect to see Maleficent 3 sometime in 2024.
