Did you know, Hulu’s adaptation of ‘Devil in the White City’ is officially dead at the streamer? The series was picked up last year after being in early development stages since 2019. Production was expected to start in 2023, but it faced multiple challenges. First, Keanu Reeves, the show’s leading man, departed, followed by director Todd Field. The project searched for a new director but hasn’t found one yet. However, the team behind the show plans to shop it at other studios. Based on Erik Larson’s non-fiction book, the show tells the story of Daniel H. Burnham, a visionary architect racing to make history with the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, and Dr. H. H. Holmes, America’s first modern serial killer who built the notorious “Murder Castle” in the fair’s shadow. Reeves was set to play Burnham, with no actor attached to play Holmes.
