Children of the Corn 2023 │ News Updates │ Cineflicks News

Today, we’re talking about the latest Stephen King adaptation, Children of the Corn and it wouldn’t be a year of horror movie releases without that one. Last year, we got Mr. Harrigan’s Phone and Firestarter, but this year, you should get ready for this updated dose of Children of the Corn. But, hold on! This time, it’s not a continuation of the saga of murderous kids. Instead, we’re going back to the very beginning with a prequel. Fans will get to see how the chaos and youth-led dystopia all started in the first place. It’s important to note that while Children of the Corn may not be King’s most critically-acclaimed work, it has certainly had a significant impact on Hollywood. From the short film Disciples of the Crow to the ten feature-length adaptations, this story has become a beloved part of horror cinema. But what about this latest adaptation and what’s the story of it? Well, the movie is written and directed by Kurt Wimmer, who you may know from the movie Equilibrium. It’s not a direct adaptation of King’s original short story, but rather based on the mythology built within it. This is the eleventh instalment in the series, but it veers off in its own direction, focusing more on the mythos behind the children’s uprising. As for its story, we will be diving into a creepy story about a possessed 12-year-old and her crazed army of children. It follows a young girl Eden who is possessed by an evil nature spirit and leads the kids in her town on a hellbent mission to please the dark entity by killing all the adults and anyone who defies her. But there’s hope! Meet Boleyn Williams, who’s the one teen in the town who’s unaffected by the little girl’s influence. She may be the only one able to stop Eden and save the town from its catastrophic fate. With suspense and chills around every corner, this film is a must-watch for horror movie fans. The cast of this movie includes some familiar faces, such as Elena Kampouris from My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, who plays Boleyn Williams, and Kate Moyer from Buffaloed, who plays Eden Edwards. Joining them is Callan Mulvey, known for his role in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Bruce Spence from Love and Monsters, who plays Paster Penny. We also have Stephen Hunter from The Hobbit as Calvin Colvington, Erika Heynatz from Gabriel as June Willis, Andrew S. Gilbert from Girl at the Window as Sheriff Gebler, and Joe Klocek from Nowhere Boys as Calder Colvington. This talented cast is sure to bring their A-game to the screen, and we can’t wait to see their performances in Children of the Corn. The movie will be available exclusively on the horror streaming app, Shudder, on March 21, 2023. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting horror movie.
