The co-creator and showrunner Taylor Sheridan is working with Paramount Global and Paramount Network to end the current iteration of the highly popular show. However, there’s good news for those who can’t get enough of the franchise! The same report suggests that Hollywood A-list star, Matthew McConaughey, might take on the lead role in a new show set within the Yellowstone universe. McConaughey is reportedly in negotiations with the network to bring this new project to life. So, why is the show coming to an end in such an unusual way? The main reason is believed to be Kevin Costner’s behaviour, who has been in dispute with the studio over shooting schedules. Kevin is the lead star of this show and let’s be honest here, he is one of the key factors to make this show this popular. Sources reportedly told Deadline that Costner only wanted to shoot for 50 days for the first part of the 5th season, despite originally committing to 65 days. For the second batch of episodes, the actor told the production staff that he would only be available for one week of shooting. Due to prior commitments on his multi-part epic western film “Horizon”, he is in a difficult place to manage both these projects. Costner’s behaviour is believed to have caused morale issues with other cast and crew members.
