Snowpiercer is a post-apocalyptic series that debuted in May 2020. It is based on a 2013 film of the same name directed and written by Bong Joon-Ho. The film was a critical and commercial hit all around the world and later, it became the basis of this hit drama series. Unlike the film, this thriller dystopian show is set in 2026, seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland. It follows the remnants of humanity who have taken shelter on a perpetually moving luxury train, known as Snowpiercer. Designed and built by the eccentric billionaire Mr. Wilford, the train consists of 1,001 carriages and circles the globe 2.7 times per year. The constant motion of the train provides energy and prevents the passengers from freezing as well. Since the catastrophe, the train’s population has become rigidly separated by class. This separation becomes the reason for the revolutionary struggle. The struggle against the imposed social hierarchy and the unbalanced distribution of limited resources is the main theme of this story. The series explores issues of class warfare, social injustice, and the politics of survival. With such a thrilling plot, it’s obvious the show became a big hit after its first season. Now you know the main story of this show, let’s talk about season 4. Snowpiercer season 4 is going to be the last season of this series. It means the fate of humanity will be decided in that installment. The season 3 finale saw Wilford depart the united train. Layton and Melanie’s success in avoiding civil war on the train ended with two fractions. One group wants to stay with Melanie on the train and the other one is with Layton in the search for New Eden. Layton set off on a mission to the Horn of Africa where New Eden was discovered. But in a flash-forward of 3 months, a missile is headed toward the train. This last scene raised questions for season 4. The final season will likely center on the struggle for New Eden. Or Wilford is coming back to finish Layton? There are many possibilities and plot threads to explore. But one thing is sure, the final season is going to be full of twists and surprises. The cast members which are returning in season 4 are Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Rowan Blanchard, Iddo Goldberg, Lena Hall, Mickey Sumner, and Sam Otto. Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov also joined the cast for last season. It is unclear at this point whether Sean Bean is returning or not. Snowpiercer season 4 is coming this summer but it will not air on TNT. This has been confirmed when the network released this statement a few weeks ago, “We can confirm that TNT will not air season 4 of Snowpiercer. This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors, and crew who brought Snowpiercer’s extraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong,”. This statement is a clear indication that this time, the train is going to stop at a different station. Is it Netflix or not? It is yet to be revealed.
