Before this movie, there has been a D&D film trilogy in the past. But with this film, Paramount Pictures is ready to launch a new D&D media franchise. Written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein along with John Francis, the film has some pretty big names from Hollywood. Chris Pine is playing the character of Bard. Along with him, Michelle Rodriguez is portraying the character of Holga the Barbarian while Hugh Grant is cast as Forge the Rouge. Other cast members are Justice Smith as Sorcerer, and Sophia Lillis as a Tiefling Druid. Set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting the film has no connection to past series and therefore, will serve as a reboot. As for its storyline, the official synopsis is released by Paramount which reads, “A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers take an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic. But things go south when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the roleplaying game to the big screen. This film is going to be a hilarious action-packed adventure. The director told in an interview that this movie is full of easter eggs and famous D&D troops. Many film pundits are expecting this film to be a successful ride at the box office. However, it will be decided when the movie will hit cinemas on March 31, 2023.
