The Sandman : Why Should You Be Excited About It? News Update │ Cineflicks News

The Sandman series is yet to be released this summer but the show is already getting much hype. Those who are familiar with the comics, know the reason behind this popularity. But if you are one of those people who has heard this name the first time, then let us tell you why you should be excited about this show. Based on a DC comic book of the same name, The Sandman is written by Neil Gaiman. First published in 1989, it has 10 volumes. For decades, this seminal comic was deemed un-filmable. Of course, there have been several attempts trying to bring it to both the big screen and the small screen. For example, in 2014, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gaiman worked on a film adaptation but the project failed due to creative differences. In 2019, Netflix approached Gaiman with the offer to faithfully adapt his work along with a huge budget. So, it is the first time that The Sandman graphic novels are being adapted for live-action. The Sandman has been revered as one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. It has won many awards including Hugo, World Fantasy, and Eisner Awards for the best fantasy novel. Having genres like supernatural, fantasy, and horror, The Sandman is a saga that transcends space and time. It takes us beyond Earth to mythical lands and strange realms. Packed with iconic figures of history and legend, the series follows its titular character Dream of the Endless, also known as Morpheus and the Sandman, who sets out to restore order to his kingdom of the Dreaming. So, it’s unlike anything you have ever seen before on your screens. This superb series is set to premiere on August 5, 2022, on Netflix.
